British F4 - Hauger and Doohan lead the field to Brands

#33 Jack Doohan (AUS – Arden)

#24 Dennis Hauger (NOR - Arden)

It is the opening weekend of the F4 British Championship, contested around the intense Brand Hatch Indy circuit. Red Bull Juniors Jack Doohan, the 15-year-old Australian, and 15-year-old Norwegian Dennis Hauger line up for the Arden Team. Both have already impressed, with Hauger toping the timing sheets at both the Rockingham and Snetterton tests.

Doohan was third fastest at the Snetterton test so the Arden drivers are right on form for a great start to the year. "Yes I cant wait to get racing, we've had really good preseason tests," enthused the Ozzie. "Of course we are still working, still learning but it's gone well. I quickly fitted in with the team, the Arden guys have been great, they've got so much experience so we quickly get a good set-up."

Brands no problem

"We tested here at Brands yesterday (Wednesday)," continued Doohan. "It started off really well in the morning doing some good runs on good tyres and old tyres. Then it was a bit variable in the afternoon, some running on a wet track, learning a lot so we got some good experience. We changed the car a bit for the afternoon I wanted to try something looking for a bit more. But it was my mistake, we went the wrong way but no problem we know how to get it back."

"We've got time on Friday before Saturday's qualifying and we are already really close. It's a great track, the first corner going over the blind hill then uphill braking for the next one, really interesting. Of course some of the guys have done more laps round here than I have but that just means we just have to work a bit harder and it's going very well."

Hauger quick to get going

"I've been waiting a while now to get started," explained the Norseman. "The testing all went well and I can't wait to start racing. We've done some testing on the Indy circuit including yesterday (Wednesday), in different conditions, wet and dry including using slicks a bit in the dry. That is bound to happen at some time during the season so it's good to have that experience."

"The team said I was quickest yesterday so that was good to hear. I know that some other drivers have more experience round here than I do and they have that advantage but I think that the good testing has given us confidence, we made a few changes to the car yesterday and I think we've got a good set-up. I like the track, it's not easy to do a perfect lap but we are ready to race."
