Dan Ticktum

Dan Ticktum chasing the F3 title lead to Zandvoort

#27 Dan Ticktum (GBR – Motopark Dallara Volkswagen)
FIA F3 European Championship position: 2nd – 100 points – after 9 of 30 races

Dan Ticktum lies second in the FIA F3 European Championship just a single point off the lead. The Red Bull Junior won the last F3 race at the Norisring, bouncing back from a car destroying start line crash earlier in the day and a trip to the hospital.

The 19-year-old Briton arrives in the Netherlands fresh from a Japanese trip for his second Super Formula outing of the year where he again showed impressive race pace, charging through from P19 to P11. "It was a great opportunity, with a little more time in the car we'd be right at the front but that's probably it for the year," explained Ticktum.

Getting in front

He is now in Zandvoort to continue his full F3 season. "For sure the aim is to take the championship lead this weekend, we've had a bit of bad luck with some DNFs that have cost us a lot of points otherwise we'd have a comfortable lead. So that's what we've got to do this weekend."

"I've not raced here before but I've tested in F3 and I was in the sim this Tuesday, it's a great track, clearly the most difficult on the calendar. It's fast, a lot of high speed corners that you've really got to get right, you've got to have your references sorted because it is easy to make a mistake. It will be interesting to see how close to the limit I have to get."

Getting ahead

"It's not an easy place to overtake, that's for sure so as usual qualifying is important. It's a proper race track, not a modern track with big run-off aprons, it's a great place to race, I'm really looking forward to it."
