#18 Dan Ticktum (GBR – Motopark Dallara Volkswagen)
The 64th Macau Grand Prix is being run this weekend in the old Portuguese enclave of China and doubtless the event's status as one of the great stand alone races will be further enhanced as the best F3 drivers in the world are joined by some stars from other series including Red Bull Junior Dan Ticktum.
The 18-year-old Briton has completed his first year in Formula Renault Eurocup with seventh in the championship but still has the final of his GP3 season to contest in a week's time.
He is full of enthusiasm for Macau. "It's a brilliant race, I loved it last year, really a fantastic event. I was eighth in the qualifying race then got knocked off in the final after a safety car restart. I've not been in an F3 car this year so that side of it is a bit tricky but I know the track and the street circuits like this, Pau and Monaco suit me."
"There is a lot less stress being here for the second time, I know what to expect and I know to take it easy at the start of practice. Of course you've got to get settled in quickly but don't push it for the first five laps, get settled into the car and the track, find your limits without being silly, it is very different."
"I've also done a lot of laps in the sim, that's a big help, you can't test here so that gives you the chance to get all the reference points, a lot is blind so the more time you can do the better, if you've got an accurate sim you can't beat it, it's a big help."
