#14 Dan Ticktum (GBR – Dams)
GP3 Championship position: 0 points – after 11 of 15 races (debut in race 11)

Niko Kari and Dan Ticktum are in Jerez this weekend for a GP3 weekend away from F1. The Red Bull Juniors both have a very pragmatic approach to the penultimate GP3 event this year.

Niko Kari working for a present

"I'm looking forward to a good weekend," enthused the Finn who celebrates his 18th birthday on Friday. "I think it will be a good track to race on, I've done quite a bit of testing there but never raced. For sure I hope and I think we have made some improvements since last time out, also with my driving."

"There is new asphalt so it will be interesting to see how that is, in the past Jerez has been quite hard on tyres. We don't have the F1 cars there but with the F2 and other classes there should be plenty of rubber. Like a lot of tracks it's not easy to overtake, with the DRS down the back straight perhaps but qualifying is going to be important so we've got to get that right," he concluded.

Dan Ticktum working to brake into consistency

"I raced there three years ago in Formula Renault so I know which way the track goes," explained the 18-year-old Briton as he arrived in Paris by train on Wednesday from the Dams headquarters in Le Mans, taking a flight to Seville. "The GP3 car will be very different and I am taking the weekend much as I did in Monza, see how it goes and the main thing is that I need more time in the car."

"I was at Dams since Sunday, time in the sim and other pre race prep, getting prepared as much as possible, that worked well for us in Italy. I know I need to be more consistent with my heavy braking so I'm going to get those braking markers nailed. Then we'll see how the weekend goes," said Ticktum who heads into only his second GP3 weekend, the first being Monza where qualifying and Race 2 were axed due to weather.
