Dan Ticktum

Ticktum tunes up for Silverstone F3

#27 Dan Ticktum (GBR – Motopark Dallara Volkswagen)
FIA F3 European Championship position: 2nd – 153 points – after 15 of 30 races

The second half of the FIA F3 European Championship season starts this weekend at Silverstone with 19-year-old Briton Dan Ticktum just a single point off the lead. The Red Bull Junior already has three wins to his name this season while arch rival and points leader Marcus Armstrong has one.

Ticktum has had just a couple of hiccups though heading to his home race. "Apart from the fact that I'm ill and I got crashed into the other night at a road junction and I've got to sort out my damaged car I'm fine," explained Ticktum with his usual wry smile. "No but seriously as soon as I get in the race car I'll be good, it's just a bit of a cold and I'll forget that when I get behind the wheel."

Not much wrong at all

"We are very well prepared, I had a great session with the Motopark guys getting things sorted for Silverstone and we know where we are going. It's a favourite track for me and I can't wait to get out there. We know we've got speed, that's not a question."

"About the only thing we need to improve on is the way we respond to changing conditions, Spa was a typical example, quickest in Free Practice but conditions changed for Qualifying and we didn't match the change."

"It's a lot to do with the rubber laid down by the other classes, it can change things by 2 seconds a lap. We know the issue and that is what we are working on so I think we will do a better job this weekend."
