#22 Richard Verschoor (NED – Giles Motorsport Tatuus Toyota)
Toyota Racing Series Championship position: 1st – 539 points – after 9 of 15 races
Still leading the points chase in the Castrol Toyota Racing Series as he has since the first event, Richard Verschoor is smiling under pressure at the fourth round in Taupo, New Zealand this weekend. The sixteen-year-old Dutchman has a 22 point advantage with six races remaining.
The Red Bull Junior admitted that Thursday's two free practice sessions were not easy as he learns yet another new circuit in the Giles Motorsport Tatuus Toyota. "The track really cool, I like it but basically we need to find way more speed. The first session today wasn't too bad but in the second session we were way off."
"The track is changing all the time as the rubber gets put down and with more practice it will be changing again tomorrow so we've just got to wait and see how that effects the car and react to that," explained Verschoor.
"Maybe we won't be the fastest this weekend, that's a question-mark at the moment. Maybe we've got to work a bit harder for it but we'll do that and when it comes to the racing we'll do what we need to do."
"The track has got quite a few overtaking opportunities and fast sections leading up to those points so that makes it very interesting and we've got to get ourselves sorted out for that."
