Verhagen excited as Spa starts Eurocup second half

#21 Neil Verhagen (USA – Tech 1 Renault)
Formula Renault Eurocup position: 10th – 33 points – after 10 of 20 races

It was a very early start to the Formula Renault Eurocup weekend at Spa today (Wednesday) and Red Bull Junior Neil Verhagen took full advantage. The 17-year-old American worked hard through the three hours of private testing this morning and the shorter collective test sessions in the afternoon.

"We are very happy with the way it all went today, not talking about the times but the work that we got done," explained the Tech 1 driver. "We restricted our tyre usage today compered with the others and that gives us more to work with tomorrow so we are on a little bit of a different strategy."

Testing and learning

"We ran a whole variety of aero settings, different understeer and oversteer to get to what we believe is the best race set-up for the weekend. So tomorrow we have more practice to do our set-up for qualifying and we've left ourselves tyres to do that."

"Straight after our sessions it rained, that's typical Spa but it's still a place we all love. It's got everything, technical sections, the elevation changes, the big fast corners. Every time you come here you learn something new, things to add to what you knew before. You might see something from a team mate or even from the TV that you want to try. It's such a complex track, there is always something more you can get from it," concluded Verhagen.
