Neil Verhagen

Verhagen looking for answers at the Hockenheimring

#21 Neil Verhagen (USA – Tech 1 Renault)
Formula Renault Eurocup position: 13th – 33 points – after 16 of 20 races

Neil Verhagen continues to keep his focus as the Formula Renault Eurocup is at the Hockenheimring for its penultimate weekend. "It's a new week and we had another great sim session at Red Bull Racing," explained the 17-year-old American. "I was very happy with the speed and the consistency from the session, plenty of quick laps."

"It's a very good circuit, it's certainly got quick sections, straights and high speed corners but it's also balanced by the slower sections," revealed the Red Bull Junior. "The combining factor though is that it all flows together and you can't afford to mess up anywhere or that will mess you up through several corners, one leads straight to the next or to an important straight."

Reality and history

"So I was happy with my precision, that is a strong point for me and it was certainly there in the sim. I have to say that the way things have been going at the recent races I don't know how that will work out in the car but for sure the team will do everything they can to make sure it does. Of course how that turns out is going to effect the weekend."

"Naturally my emotions are tied up in how I do this weekend but it's good to remember where we are racing, the history is very cool. We go to so many tracks that have such amazing history, names like Monza and Spa have the edge but a track like Hockenheim also has a huge history and to think of all the F1 greats that have raced here is really something," concluded the Tech 1 driver.
