#27 Dan Ticktum (GBR – Motopark Dallara Volkswagen)
FIA F3 European Championship position: 7th – 20 points – after 3 of 30 races
Just back from Japan where he had the first of a few Super Formula drives this year, Dan Ticktum is fired up for the second event in his full FIA F3 European Championship campaign. The Red Bull Junior is in Hungary for three races at the Hungaroring.
"Japan was a great experience," enthused the 18-year-old Briton. "A great car and I really enjoyed it. Shame about the contact and the puncture in the race but I was happy with the way I handled being thrown in at the deep end. I'm looking forward to going back in July, to Fuji for another go and I think that then I can hit the ground running."
"So this week has been pretty busy, back from Japan late on Monday, a good day in the sim on Wednesday to get my head round the F3 car again, very important to make the adjustment and that went well so I am really looking forward to this weekend."
"We went into Budapest this morning (Thursday) a light run, a look around the city, really nice and now we are off out to the track for the weigh-in and other pre-race things."
More than ready
"I like this circuit, I think that it's the track outside Britain I have driven most and I think that's true for a lot of drivers. You've got to think like Pau in that it's hard to overtake so you've got to get qualifying right."
"I think we can do that, the pace was there when we were here for testing at the beginning of the year, the Motopark guys know what they are doing with the car. I can always work on myself a bit, keeping my head tuned to where it should be but that's OK."
"So I can't wait to get out on track tomorrow and make sure my head is back in an F3 car."
