Jack Doohan seized a superb double victory at Suzuka, taking little notice of his Hitech Grand Prix teammate's home circuit advantage even though it was the 16-year-old Australian's first visit to the classic Japanese venue. The Red Bull Junior therefore closed the points gap to just 8 in his chase of Ukyo Sasahara in the Asian F3 Championship.

Actually it should have been a triple win but for a technical issue in Race 2.

"Yes, not bad," smiled Doohan. "It all clicked from the start really. In the first session I had a technical problem but was only half a second off then in the second I was fastest by two-tenths. So the preparation, the sim time and everything, I think it all just came together and I loved the track."

"I think all the racing this year has helped, the racing in Europe like Pau where I had a tough weekend. I gained from that, it strengthened me and my driving has improved so that was all positive for this weekend."

"Qualifying wasn't perfect, a bit damp and I got stuck in traffic but we were still OK and the main thing was we knew we had good pace going into Race 1."

"I knew it was going to be pretty tough given the Suzuka Circuit and Ukyo's knowledge around here. Luckily, I managed to get a good start, which I've rarely been able to do lately. I did it when it counted. Then I tried to get away on the first lap, but then there was the Safety Car. I tried to keep everything cool; not over-think it. After the restart, I tried to pull a gap but Ukyo was pretty on it. I tried not to over-push or make any mistakes."

"I had the fastest lap so that put me on pole for Race 2. I was quite comfortably leading that when the Safety Car came out. As the Safety Car went to pull in something happened in my car, it shut down, I had to pull over, switch it off and on again. It went but by then of course I was last."

"In Race 3 I didn't get the best start but we really had good pace, my teammate had a drive through penalty but I think that with the pace we had I still had a good chance to win anyway. The Hitech guys gave me a great car this weekend and it was a lot of fun."
