Dennis Hauger came into the final race weekend of the ADAC F4 championship just a point off the title lead after his record breaking triple win at Hockenheim. As the 16-year-old Norwegian Red Bull Junior stood on top of the last podium of the season at the Sachsenring on Sunday it looked as though that one point was all that still separated him from overall championship victory.

Later the stewards penalised drivers behind Hauger in Race 3 and promoted the championship winner so the gap was not quite as close, 7 points in fact.

"Well of course it was good to end with a win but tough to just miss out on the championship like that," explained a slightly subdued Hauger.

"You can talk about how things might have been but there is no point in that, you've got to take it on the chin, look at the positives and go forward."

Qualifying in the wet and racing in the dry

"It was a bit of a strange weekend, fastest in the wet in Free Practice but when it came to Qualifying in the wet the grip had disappeared. We didn't change anything but looking over the data with the team we could see it just wasn't there, the tyres, whatever, we don't know."

"So starting the weekend P4 in two races was not going to be easy. Race pace was good, I might have done better to be a bit more patient in Race 1 but I gave it everything and I think I got the maximum out of Race 2 and 3. Coming through from seventh in the last race to win."

"It was a difficult start to the season and we've had some ups and downs but we've also got six wins and some great experience. It has been a good year and I've still got the Italian title to win," stated the Van Amersfoort Racing driver.
