Jack Doohan storms to great Euroformula second at the Red Bull Ring

Perfectly measured aggression from Jack Doohan at the Red Bull Ring netted the 16-year-old Australian an excellent second place in Euroformula Open Race 1. The Double R Racing driver was unlucky in Race 2 when he lost his front wing early and had to pit but it was an impressive weekend.

"Yes it was a fun race yesterday, I enjoyed it," enthused the Red Bull Junior who also scored a second in Race 1 at Hockenheim earlier in the season. "I made a decent start and went for it, it was a bit scrappy on that first lap and I made the best of it, got through and went after Sato. It was great to get that result."

"It was a good weekend, we were quick in Free Practice, we had the pace. When it came to Qualifying it wasn't quite as good, I'm not sure what we were missing really. Some of the other teams seem to find a bit extra and we were just a little off. The guys found something for the race though and that made the difference."

"This morning we were doing better in Qualy and I was on for a good lap until the guy in front of me went off and I had to back out of it. Then I didn't make the best start in the race, bogged down a bit. Again the first lap was a bit scrappy, I tried to go round the outside in turn three but got out in the gravel."

"That probably damaged the front wing and I lost downforce but I didn't know that. Through the last corner it just ran wide and went off and this time pushed the front wing right back under and I had to pit for a new nose."
