Australian 16-year-old Jack Doohan scored two second places and a win in the opening races of the F3 Asian Championship in Sepang. The Red Bull Junior's Hitech Grand Prix team dominated the event and Doohan now lies second to his more experienced team mate Ukyo Sasahara in the championship chase.

"Yes I'm quite happy with that, a stable weekend, a good start to the season," explained Doohan. "Practice went OK but in the first race I realised that the balance of the car wasn't perfect and I struggled to get close to my team mate so we changed a few things for Race 2."

Two set it up for three

"Going into the second race we decided to leave the old tyres on as I was on pole for Race 3. Most people changed tyres so I was under a lot of pressure to hang on to my second place but I managed to hang on to it."

"In Race 3 I got a good start from pole and could put in a quick couple of laps to open up a two second lead. Then I was talking to the team keeping watch on the situation, asking them where I should push and managing the situation. It all worked out quite well," concluded Doohan in his usual understated manner.
