Neil Verhagen chasing sun and success in Barcelona

#21 Neil Verhagen (USA – Tech 1 Renault)
Formula Renault Eurocup position: 12th – 47 points – after 18 of 20 races

Qualifying second and third in his two group sessions last time out at the Hockenheimring marked a huge turnaround for Red Bull Junior Neil Verhagen after a troubled mid season. The 17-year-old American is in Barcelona this weekend to end his Formula Renault Eurocup season on even more of a high.

"Yes, Germany was good and we want to carry the momentum into this this weekend, to do at least as well, hopefully better here in Barcelona," explained the Tech 1 driver on Thursday. "I've done a good number of laps round here including last season, also the tests, including yesterday."

"That went quite well, we were running in the top ten most of the day. We ended up tenth but I think we were better than that, we just missed out on getting a really good run with our new tyres so we should be in good shape going into Friday."

The right style

"It's a great track and I enjoy the style you have to use here. The corners pretty much all run together so you've got to be precise. If you mess one up that's going to effect you going to the next one."

"That kind of demand I like to respond to, and the technical nature of the corners so I'm looking forward to the weekend. Things are a lot brighter than they were a few months ago, it should be a great end to the season," concluded Verhagen.
