#21 Neil Verhagen (USA – Tech 1 Renault)
Formula Renault Eurocup championship position: 14th – 9 points – after 6 of 20 races
Neil Verhagen's arrival in Monaco for the fourth event in the Formula Renault Eurocup season coincides with the release of the Junior Team images on the Red Bull Content Pool from the recent Media Day at Red Bull Racing.
Monte Carlo is of course one of the most scenic venues of the year that produces great images of its own and 17-year-old American Verhagen is ready to make a big impression after recapturing his preseason speed last weekend in Silverstone.
"Yes, as I said on Sunday, we are now just out of reach for getting the performance that we all know is there," explains Verhagen. "The racing has never been an issue, the race pace is there and we showed that again last weekend. The main focus is on qualifying and at Silverstone there were just some errors that we won't repeat."
It is all about the speed
"The speed is back in the car, my confidence has returned, we are all feeling a lot better about things as a team. I was in the Red Bull sim on Monday again with my Tech 1 engineer so we have a better understanding of things and we can make full use of Free Practice and Qualifying."
Verhagen knows very well that qualifying pace is all the more important this weekend. "Oh yes, qualifying is everything, it's my second year at Monaco and I've done a couple of street circuits so I've got more confidence with them. The atmosphere here is very special which takes some getting used to first time but I know what to expect now."
