Driver bio

Jack Doohan has been making his own way through the karting world and into the world of open wheel formula cars. He does come from a motorsports family but it was two wheels that took father Mick to legend status. "My dad was a five-time MotoGP World Champion so it's in the blood and ever since I can remember I was riding or driving something."

It is not just the engines and wheels that are in the family psyche; "Dad and I are competitive in everything we do which keeps the fighting spirit going even when I am not racing."

Jack's aim is to be no less successful. "I want to become Formula One World Champion."

He knows very well that it is a long road and from his first year in British Formula 4 he has realistic expectations; "To gain as much experience as possible andf hopefully be in a position to win a race or two."

He already has a good deal of rkart ace experience and success to his name. "My best race was last year in the CIK FIA European championship Round 5. I had a lead of three seconds and was under pressure from a closing competitor."

He started started racing karts in April of 2011. His first major success was third in the Victorian Cadet State titles early in 2012. Then numerous State title wins from 2012 through to 2016.

"I love the racing itself the overtaking and the defensive driving with the urge to win."

As for his favourite drivers: "Michael Schumacher and Max Verstappen." And race tracks: "It's the undulating and blind apex corners that I like, they give a roller coaster feeling."

When he is not racing he loves, "Wake boarding, Surfing, Rugby, Cycling." hardly surprising having been brought up on Australia's Gold Coast. At school he likes Art and Maths.
