#30 Callum Ilott (GBR – Carlin Dallara-VW)
FIA Formula 3 European Championship position: 15th – 32.5 points – after 27 of 33 races
With just six races remaining in the 2015 FIA Formula 3 European Championship, Callum Ilott is very happy that the penultimate stop in the tour is in the Eifel Mountains. Races 28 to 30 are at the Nürburgring and the 16-year-old Briton is ready for the challenge.
"The Nürburgring has been my favourite circuit since I was a kid and just lapping it on the Playstation," enthused the Red Bull Junior. "I also had one of my first F3 tests there last year and I have tested this year in a Renault 2 litre and I really enjoy it."
"It has a great flow and good variety of corners, from the fast sections to the chicane just before the right hander onto the start and finish, that chicane is a lot of fun," continued the Carlin driver. "I've been in the sim also this week though that wasn't such a great experience as I am pretty sick at the moment and I wasn't that consistent. I've got a temperature and feel pretty low. Hopefully I'll get rid of it before the weekend," he explained on Wednesday.
"I think it's a track that rewards precision, that is what makes the difference. You have to have a good feel for the width of the track and the confidence to use all that you need. There are sections where you need to use all of it and other places where doing that just makes the line longer."
