F3 - Sette Câmara and Kari ready for that Spa challenge

#10 Niko Kari (FIN – Motopark Dallara-VW)
FIA Formula 3 European Championship position: 14th – 75 points – after 18 of 30 races

Is there a red blooded racer that doesn't like the challenge of Spa? Certainly none to be found in the Red Bull Junior Team as Sérgio Sette Câmara and Niko Kari head into the Ardennes for races 19, 20 and 21 in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship. Run as part of the Spa 24 hour event the F3 track action starts on Thursday and concludes with Race 3 on Saturday.

"For sure it's a favourite track and I'm really looking forward to it," enthused Kari, the 16-year-old Fin. "We did a winter test there and it went very well. Both in the dry and the wet I have been quick so we have every reason to expect to go well. With the test and the sim work at Red Bull we are very well prepared."

All you could want

"It's a great track with everything," continued Kari. "Elevation changes, all the sorts of corners, fast, slow and it is a long lap that really demands full concentration for an extended period. A real challenge and that is what I like, you can make a big difference if you get it right."

"We need to get it right in qualifying, that is what we have to focus on first, we haven't done such a good job this year. If we get that right I am sure we can have a very good weekend."

Very different

"It's a big change from our last event at Zandvoort," explains 18-year-old Brazilian Sette Câmara. "Spa has lots of overtaking possibilities and although it's one of the classic GP circuits it's been very much brought up-to-date with run off and escape roads etc.

"I would say that normally I prefer a track like Zandvoort but Spa is Spa, it is a track where every driver is excited to accept the challenge and I can't wait to get out there. Before Zandvoort I had a very hectic period including the F1 test and had no time to get in the sim. In fact I was still quick on the first day there, managed to get in a good rhythm quickly. For Spa I will have plenty of sim time both at Red Bull and Motopark and go there really well prepared and focused so I can be sure to get in that rhythm early in practice."

Everything important

"Spa is a high speed track that demands a lot from the driver and the car," continues Sette Câmara. "The engine has got to play its part and VW have been doing a great job through the year, Motopark give us a great car so we have every reason to expect a great weekend."

"We are completely putting the frustrations of Zandvoort behind us, just simple bad luck and I'm sure it will swing our way."
