The Karting Red Bull Juniors both had an excellent April with Jonny Edgar taking third overall in the WSK Super Masters OK Seniors and Harry Thompson starting the CIK European Championship with third in the opening OK Senior round at Sarno.
14-year-old Briton Edgar was naturally pleased with the start to his OK Senior campaign. "I ended up finishing third in the championship which is really good for my first championship in the senior class. I'm really happy with that."
Fast from the start
"I didn't expect to be third," continued Jonny. "There are many drivers in the class who are very experienced who I managed to get ahead of. I didn't think that would be possible this early in the season."
"I think the third round at La Conca was probably the best, the speed there was very good. I was second in the race."
On to the CIK European Championship
The opening round of the CIK European Championship didn't go so well for technical reasons. "I think we had an issue with tyres, a couple of drivers did, so there was no chance of me having a good result. In practice the pace was good but in the races the pace just wasn't fast enough."
"I think that in the coming races we will have the speed back, be racing at the front and on the podium," concluded the Forza Racing driver with his quiet confidence.
On the other hand 13-year-old Briton Thompson had an excellent CIK European Championship event in Sarno taking third after a superb drive. "Yes it was a pretty good weekend overall. In my final heat I made a small mistake and instead of starting at the front, in the top few I started up lining up in 11th. I got up to fourth on the second lap, third on the fourth lap. By then it was spread out and the front two had got too much of a gap."
The speed is there
"After qualifying we knew we were pretty fast, being second overall," added Thompson. "In the heats we tried to see what we could do and I won four out of five of my heats, the other I DNF'd."
"The result overall has given me a lot of confidence so I'm really looking forward to the next races," enthused Ricky Flynn Motorsport driver Harry who already finished second in the OK Junior Champions Cup at the beginning of the year before stepping up to OK Senior.
