Qualifying: 17th – Race 1 Grid: 17th – Race 1 Result: 19th
Race 2 Grid top 8 in reverse order: 19th – Race 2 Result: 14th

Thrown in at the deep end of the FIA F2 championship, Patricio O'Ward was certainly swimming by the end of an extremely demanding weekend at the Red Bull Ring. Straight from driving an IndyCar in the US to the top F1 feeder series in Europe, the 20-year-old Mexican Red Bull Junior took the challenge by the horns.

"Wow, what a great weekend and what a huge learning curve," he enthused. "I knew it would be different but I couldn't believe just how different. Really it was like learning to drive again."

"I was happy to make huge steps through practice and qualifying then a really big step for Race 2 today," he added after coming from the back of the grid to finish 14th in the MP Motorsport car.

"Yesterday in my first race I just destroyed the tyres, it was like Tokyo Drift!! Today I had a much better idea of how to balance the thermal heat of the tyres and could look after them. We passed guys today and would have done even better but for a couple of guys who went in for new tyres and later got ahead of us."

"I learnt another huge lesson with the safety car, restarting on cold Pirellis. I tell you that's an experience! So that is what the whole weekend was, a fantastic experience and I am very happy with everything I learnt."
