Jonny Edgar and Harry Thompson, the British Red Bull Juniors, started the WSK Super Masters karting season at the beginning of February in Italy with the Adria round and the inevitable intense competition. Edgar, who didn't turn 14 until the 13th of February, came away with 8th in the OK final while 13-year-old Thompson was frustrated to be knocked out in the OJK PreFinal after being ranked an excellent third at the end of the qualifying heats.

Edgar knows that there is a lot more to come. "The qualifying and the heats were wet and I was pretty happy with the way they went, I was up with the quick guys and that was good. The final was dry though and we didn't have the set-up quite right for those conditions so I was missing a bit of pace. It's a shame because we've had some engine improvements and with the right set-up we are very competitive."

"We are now off to La Conca testing as we've got a race there next weekend and I'm looking forward to getting out on track again after being completely snowed off last weekend," concluded Jonny.

Both stood around in the snow hoping for action that never came at Lonato at the beginning of March as the event was eventually called off. It denied Thompson his first WSK outing in OK Senior after competing in the Junior class in Adria where the weekend had started with some impressive driving. "It was going well, the track was getting better through the weekend and I finished the qualifying heats in third place."

"For the Prefinal there was a dry line and I got a good start and into the lead. It should have been a great race but another competitor tried to overtake, went onto the wet, slid into me and took me out. That was the end of that," explained Harry simply.

He is very much looking forward to the rest of the season in the Senior class. "The power valve engine is a lot stronger. There is more to work with and it also makes driving more physical."

Harry Thompson and Jonny Edgar are both in action in WSK Super Masters OK Championship at the La Conca circuit March 15th to 18th.
