Formula Renault Eurocup

Verhagen back from the break, ready for the Red Bull Ring

Formula Renault Eurocup championship position: 12th – 23 points – after 8 of 20 races

From the compact city of Monaco almost two months ago to the wide open spaces of the Red Bull Ring, Formula Renault Eurocup reaches the half way point this weekend with races 9 and 10 of the 20.

Red Bull Junior Neil Verhagen has made excellent use of the time away from the track. "I had the chance to go back to the US and spend time with friends and family, enjoy the 4th of July there and do plenty of training as well as hang out at the lake for some water sports. I certainly feel more than ready for the second half of the season," enthused the 17-year-old American.

Well prepared

"I was working in the sim at Milton Keynes on Tuesday, again with my engineer from Tech 1, very valuable to make sure we get the absolute maximum out of the preparation. So we are very happy with things going to Austria."

"We know that the pace has been there the last two events, I made a couple of driving errors in qualifying at Silverstone and in Monaco we were just two tenths off pole and it was only the group qualifying system that had us starting further back. We know we can do it."

An example to follow

"I'm going to the Red Bull Ring looking to match what Max did a few weeks ago," adds Verhagen with his huge smile. "I know the track, I like it, the Tech 1 team have had good success there so we are all confident of getting the results."
